Our Legacy
The story of Mansukhlal Mithaiwala is one of heritage, passion, and generations of craftsmanship. It began during World War II, when our founder Shri Harilal Manikchand Sukhadia—father of Mansukhlal Harilal Sukhadia and a master Kandoi (Halwai) from Kutch, Gujarat—arrived in Chennai (then Madras) in 1942 with a deep love for handcrafted sweets and savouries.
Beginning his journey by going door to door offering traditional delicacies such as Ghaatiya, Peda, Laddu, Saata, and Halwa, his journey soon led to a modest sweet stall near the Ekambareswarar Temple on Mint Street in 1945 and named after his first son, Mansukhlal—marking the birth of an enduring culinary legacy.
Over the decades, Mansukhlal Mithaiwala has been honoured to be part of life’s cherished moments—from intimate family celebrations to grand festivities to any occasion. Our sweets and savouries have become synonymous with trust, tradition, and timeless taste, making us a beloved name across generations of Chennaiites.
